Mysa Hus Sponsors: Alpine Hardwood & Oxbow Custom Hardwood Flooring

The custom hardwood flooring of a home is often overlooked, and yet it’s a surface you see, feel, and interact with every day. For Mysa Hus we knew we needed the best of the best. And like most of the great things that happen in our homes, that started with trusted partners.

This month, we’re spotlighting two of them: Alpine Hardwood and Oxbow Hardwoods.

The Vision

I love white oak. I’ve used it countless times, and for good reason. But for Mysa Hus, a home inspired by European simplicity and wellness, I wanted something with more depth.

I knew from day one that Alpine Hardwood would be our flooring partner. They’ve been with me for nearly two decades, long before The Curious Builder existed. They’re incredible humans first, craftsmen second, and that combination is rare.

So when I told the team I wanted something different, something richer, they connected me with Oxbow Hardwoods. Together, we explored options that aligned with the Nordic-inspired vision for the home. We eventually landed on a stunning line from Arboni, a Belgian wood manufacturer known for its wellness-forward finishes.

Instead of polyurethane, Arboni uses linseed oil, a traditional Northern European finish. No off-gassing. No chemical smell. Just texture, depth, and an organic feel you simply can’t fake.

Confession: I used to be firmly in the “site-sanded only” camp. But Arboni changed my mind. This product performs beautifully, looks incredible, and aligns far better with wellness goals than many traditional options.

Why Alpine Hardwood

I get asked often why Alpine has been part of almost every home we’ve built. The answer is simple: the people.

Anthony, Adam, their entire crew, they're true salt-of-the-earth. Loyal. Hard-working. High-integrity. We’ve walked through some tough situations side-by-side over the years, and they’ve always shown up.

That kind of relationship isn’t just beneficial, it’s foundational. As long as I'm building homes, Alpine will be part of the team.

Why Flooring is Worth the Investment

Truthfully, the flooring became one of the biggest investments in the entire home: two to three times what I originally budgeted. And I don’t regret it for a second.

Every square foot of the main and second level is wood. Wood is healthier. Cleaner. More hygienic. Better for air quality. And because flooring influences your eyes, your feet, and your mood, it shapes every experience you have inside a home.

If anything deserves to be perfect, it’s the surface you interact with from the moment you wake up until the moment you go to bed.

Unexpected Decision Choices

Two design risks turned into major rewards:

1. The Entry Parquet Pattern
I’d never done parquet before and admittedly hesitated because it can feel busy. But the OHO team encouraged me to trust the process, and I’m glad I did. The finished look feels like an organic wood rug that anchors the entire entry experience.

2. Brass Star Medallions
These are the showstoppers. We installed brass star medallions directly into the wood. It’s next-level craftsmanship and visitors won’t forget it.

Summing it up

This floor represents years of relationships and thousands of hours of collective skill. Alpine and Oxbow brought this vision to life with care, precision, and passion. It will be one of the most beautiful elements in the entire home, and it’s because of them.

For that, I’m deeply grateful.
