A Team Rooted in Craftsmanship
Built on three generations of craft. Driven by a belief that home is the foundation of wellbeing.
At Mark D. Williams Custom Homes, we believe the spaces you live in shape how you feel, move, and connect each day. As an award-winning Twin Cities custom home builder, we’ve built trust within the community as a team that creates quality spaces with the same attention and care we’d bring to our own family homes.
Our Story
Mark D. Williams Custom Homes is a third-generation high-end residential builder in the Twin Cities, creating dream homes through thoughtful remodeling transformations and ground-up custom builds. Our company was named Minnesota Builder of the Year in 2021—an incredible honor considering the high quality of builders in this market.
With 20+ years of home-building experience, founder Mark D. Williams uses his endless curiosity and ability to adapt to deliver an exceptional home-building experience for all his clients. He credits this success to his collaborative approach with trade partners and homeowners, and his nonstop quest to be a fun, trustworthy, highly-skilled, and creative partner in the process. He surrounds himself with dedicated craftspeople who share his company’s mission to bring homeowners joy while helping them create their dream lifestyle.
Your Home is a Retreat
We approach every home considering not only how it looks, but how it lives alongside you. How does it make a busy morning smoother? How can it instill a sense of peace in the quiet moments after a family dinner? This approach was born from Mark's natural inclination to design homes he'd live in himself: spaces drenched in natural light, made for active children and young families, flowing from easy gathering spaces to intimate moments of restoration. Homes that are as efficient as they are effortless, and as detailed as they are intentional.
You are the main character, and your home is the setting that compliments your story. Our homes feel alive—designed with organic textures that soften with age. Natural materials that tell the story of where they came from. Light that moves through the space like a supporting character, shifting the mood as the day unfolds.
Wellness Is Our Foundation
At MDW, wellness is not a bonus, it's built into the foundation of every space we create. As a certified Green Path builder, we consider every detail in service of the health and wellbeing of our clients. We prioritize things like air quality, non-toxic materials, acoustic health, water purity, biophilic design from the start.
From the way natural light moves through a space to how rooms connect and flow, every detail is designed to create a sense of balance, comfort, and ease.
Building Homes for Lives Well-Lived
Whatever the scope — a ground-up custom build, a transformative whole-home renovation, or something in between — the MDW team brings a consistent level of intention and craft to every project. We collaborate with architects, designers, and trade partners you choose, or we'll connect you with the trusted craftspeople we've built relationships with over two decades.
Custom New Builds
We build homes that feel as good as they look. Designed on a foundation of rest, movement, and togetherness, our spaces tie luxury living into functional details into a space that is completely customized to your lifestyle.
Lifestyle Redesigns
Your current home has good bones, but needs an intentional redesign to work better for how you actually live. Our whole-home remodels are guided by the same wellness-first philosophy, creating spaces that serve the quiet rhythms of your life.
