Why Water Filtration Technology Matters More Than We Think

Water Filtration Technology

There are things in a home we talk about constantly: cabinetry, windows, lighting, finishes. And then there are the things that shape daily life without ever becoming part of the conversation.

Water is one of those things.

It touches everything. The water you drink, cook with, shower in, wash your clothes with, and run through the appliances you’ve invested in. It impacts personal wellness, long-term home performance, and even the longevity of materials throughout the house.

Historically, water filtration technology has been treated as an afterthought. But that’s changing.

And a big part of that shift, for me, started with Pentair and the introduction of Naia by Everpure Home.

Touring Pentair

I had the opportunity to tour Pentair’s Minneapolis facility, and it felt less like visiting a manufacturer and more like stepping into a laboratory.

Electron microscopes. Centrifuges. Glass beakers. Engineers studying water at a molecular level. It was a reminder that water isn’t simple even though we often treat it that way.

Pentair is the second-largest filtration company in the world and Naia represents more than three years of innovation and multiple patents. What stood out most was how it consolidates what used to require several separate systems (carbon filtration, reverse osmosis, softening, and remineralization) into one whole-home appliance.

What is Naia

Instead of treating only certain water sources, Naia treats everything. Showers. Ice cubes. Drinking water. Laundry. Every tap. That’s a fundamentally different way of thinking about water filtration technology inside the home.

If I had to explain Naia in one sentence, it would be this: It takes care of the water so you don’t have to. It creates water that feels consistently clean, refreshing, and balanced: the kind you stop thinking about because it simply feels right in everyday life.

And that’s ultimately what good design does. It removes friction.

Water as Foundational Wellness

Pentair often refers to water as foundational wellness, and that idea resonates with how I approach building homes.

You can go weeks without food, but only days without water. Our bodies are largely made of it and we interact with it constantly.

What I appreciate about Naia is that it doesn’t just remove contaminants like many water filtration systems, it also re-mineralizes the water. That matters. Wellness isn’t only about eliminating what’s harmful; it’s about preserving what’s beneficial.

Naia filters out common contaminants like heavy metals, PFAS, chlorine, micro particles and plastics, and lead while also addressing hardness and maintaining water balance. That combination supports both personal health and the long-term durability of the home itself.

It’s one of those invisible decisions that impacts everything.

Why Pentair Was the Right Fit for Mysa Hus

Pentair understood the intention behind Mysa Hus immediately.

This project isn’t about showcasing products. It’s about telling a wellness-driven story through the home itself.

Naia sits right at the center of that conversation.

They’re working to change how homeowners think about water. I’m working to change how homeowners think about wellness within the built environment. Like attracts like. That’s why we honor them as one of our legacy partners

The Invisible Luxury of Water Filtration Technology

One phrase that continues to stick with me is invisible luxury.

Naia protects plumbing, appliances, and fixtures while enhancing daily experiences like bathing, cleaning, and cooking.

It also provides smart monitoring, leak detection, and real-time performance insights creating confidence not just in the water itself, but in how the system performs over time.

That combination of water purification, performance, longevity, and experience is what defines meaningful innovation in water filtration technology.

Will Whole-Home Water Treatment Become Standard?

For some homeowners, absolutely.

Like many innovations, adoption comes down to priorities and awareness. But I believe as people become more educated about water quality and its impact on health, home maintenance, and long-term investment protection interest will continue to grow.

Water affects too many aspects of daily life to remain overlooked forever.

Leading the Water Revolution

The Pentair team left a strong impression on me,from engineers to leadership. For their first IBS launch with Naia, they executed with clarity, thoughtfulness, and genuine partnership.

More importantly, they’re not just introducing a product. They’re helping lead what they call a water revolution: a shift toward recognizing water as a core element of home design rather than a background utility.

And that’s a conversation worth having.

Because when we begin treating water as foundational to wellness, performance, and longevity, the homes we build become healthier, more durable, and more aligned with how people truly live.

That’s the future I’m excited to be part of.
