Our First Live Podcast Event

I had an idea four months ago, just a couple of months into our podcasting journey with The Curious Builder, to do a live podcast event. I love hearing stories and bringing people together to celebrate their successes and growth as they work to build their businesses. There's something so special about bringing industry leaders, construction pros, and entrepreneurs across different industries together. After each podcast interview, I'm always amazed at how much I take away from the conversation. I wanted to spread the love, so we thought, why not create a LIVE event so MORE people can be a part of the magic? I had just done a tour of the glass-blowing wonder that is Hennepin Made and felt that it would be the perfect venue! It's warm, cozy, and intimate and the story of Jackson Schwartz is so compelling on top of the beautiful art form of glass blowing. I asked him if he'd be my first live podcast guest and I was excited when he said "yes". From there, we got to planning the best live event ever!

Hennepin Made was the perfect venue

Because we have been working closely with Hennepin Made on our Summer Artisan Home, it made it easy to tell the story of what an incredible business Jackson created. The owners of our Artisan home fell in love with Hennepin Made's lights and even got to see their own glass blown before they were installed into their home. It made it all the more special to host our first live podcast event at the Glass House and share the story of Hennepin Made.

What unfolded that night was the highlight of 23’ for me and a top 5 event of my career! It was the perfect night, a fantastic venue, an awesome crowd of colleagues, and the perfect guest. Listening to Jackson share his inspiring story was thrilling as it was informative and encouraging for all entrepreneurs to hear.

HUGE thank you to our sponsors

Our podcast listeners have been incredibly supportive, so we couldn't wait to get all of our community together for an intimate experience. We couldn’t have done this event without all of the sponsors who have believed and supported us throughout this season. We even had several new sponsors help support this event, specifically. Our food and drink sponsors Bell Bank Mortgage and Synergy provided drinks and a gorgeous snack spread from Nosh and Gather. Our party sponsor, Auden Street provided a fun photo booth for guests to use. All of our season and event sponsors truly helped make this event what it was.

My favorite moments

As I’ve already said, this event was truly a highlight of my career. As you can imagine, I had many favorite moments, but here are a couple of special ones.

  • Being able to watch and greet all the people that came in the doors with big smiles, excited to be there and see what this event would hold.

  • There was a moment before the event started when I got to stop and look out into the crowd and see all of these great people who came to support us. They were excited to hear Jackson share his story. There was an electric buzz of whispers from our guests, waiting for the event to start.

  • Listening to the many facets of Jackson’s story, failures, success, vision, commitment to Mpls, and his depth of character that stood out

  • Post-podcast interview talking with everybody about how much they enjoyed the podcast interview. One super networker later sent me a text saying it was among the best event she’d ever been to!!

Diving into the podcast industry was something completely new and exciting for me. Being a podcast host wasn't necessarily something that I had planned on adding to my resume, however, it's something that I am thrilled to get to do. The community of industry pros in Minnesota itself is vast, however, the strong community we've been building stretches much farther than this! We're going to be bringing more inspiring conversations and more exciting live podcast events every year!

Another big thank you to all the companies who sponsored our first
