Meet the Mysa Hus Team: Home Builder Minneapolis Collaboration

For the first time in 16 years, we took on a model home project. But not just any model. I wanted this project to reflect my core values as a Minneapolis home builder, where I’m from, and what matters most to my clients. That dream became Mysa Hus—a Scandinavian style home built around family, community, and intentional living.

So, what does it take to bring a home like this to life? It takes a dream team!

The Original Vision

When we first started, we had this beautiful location in Cottagewood where Karl from KA Designs and I had already designed a couple of homes on this land for other potential buyers. Those deals didn’t pan out, but after so much time spent on the property, I knew I wanted to stay with Karl throughout the custom home building process and pursue a new vision.

That vision was Mysa Hus.

To bring the Mysa Hus concept to life, Karl and I  partnered with longtime collaborators Melissa from Oho Interiors for interior design and of course my own team at Mark D. Williams Custom Homes for build and project leadership

With branding support from Mollie Windmiller, the Mysa Hus story came full circle—melding architecture, interiors, lifestyle, and story into one cohesive vision!

The Collaborators for Mysa Hus

Karl of KA Designs

Karl and I are friends and ultra-running buddies, so wellness is a huge part of both our lives. He understood that I wanted to integrate that into the design—especially the wellness suite: a detached, light-filled space with a saltwater pool, sauna, and cold tub. It’s a far cry from the typical basement gym—and that’s exactly the point.

Inspired by my own family, the home features a floor plan including four bedrooms upstairs and a second-floor laundry room—blending Nordic traditions with everyday functionality.

Melissa from Oho Interiors

I’ve known Melissa for years—from photographing my daughter as a baby to working together on a Scandinavian wedding venue. She was the only interior designer I called. Her style was exactly what I wanted—warm, soft, vintage. She balanced what could have been a very masculine or modern space.

Melissa brought in vintage textures with artful composition, hand-applied plaster walls, patinated brass, and antique oak cabinetry. Her touch gave Mysa Hus and the homebuilding process its soul!

Mark D. Williams

For this project I’m in a unique position as the builder, founder, and ideal client all at once. I have the building experience and quality craftsmanship to bring this luxury home to life! Even more importantly for this build process, my focus on family, healthy living, and simplicity shaped every decision from innovative design to quality materials.

The kids’ rooms aren’t oversized—I want them to come out and be with us. We don’t have TVs everywhere. The basement is for puzzles, pinball, and connection.

Building Mysa Hus wasn’t about what would sell—it was about what would matter.

The Power of Collaboration

One of the reasons Mysa Hus feels so cohesive is because the team worked together from day one—literally and figuratively. We all live within 100 yards of each other! We’re practically neighbors! That kind of connection made the building journey incredibly fluid and relational.

But even beyond geography, what made this project unique was the shared belief that a quality-built home should be more than the sum of its parts. Having a strong brand identity helped everyone tell the story.

What Mysa Hus Teaches Future Clients

If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to work with me and my team, Mysa Hus is the perfect example.

I want people to walk in and feel that this home and all of its custom spaces were built with care, and I want future clients to understand—this is what happens when you bring the full team to the table from day one. You wouldn’t fly a plane that was built in pieces by people who never talked to each other. Same thing with homes. The whole process becomes smoother, more meaningful, and more beautiful!

Experience Mysa Hus

Whether you’re building your dream home or simply dreaming about it, Mysa Husa is an invitation—to slow down, connect, and design a life that feels good from the inside out.
